Discovering the Power of Nurturing Stillness: A Journey with Rachael

Tell us about your offering at Be Free.

I, like many of you, realize how our modern-day society is non-stop. We run from one activity to another, with little time to slow down and find some quiet. My class is an offering of just that—giving you a moment to pause, connect with your body and breath, and find stillness. Stillness is so beneficial for our body, mind, and nervous system. It helps reduce anxiety and stress.

If you come to my class, we will start by grounding ourselves and connecting to our breath. We will then engage in gentle stretching, which will lead us into some asanas. The class will end with a few restorative poses and a relaxing savasana. My aim is for this class to nurture your body and leave you with a sense of calm and relaxation.

Tell us a little bit about your yoga journey.

Yoga has had a huge influence on my life. I started my practice many years ago, mainly through online classes. In 2021, my partner surprised me by signing me up for an in-person class, and it completely changed my outlook on yoga. I then completed my Yoga Teacher Training with Be Free in 2023, and through that process, I discovered a whole new meaning of what yoga is to me. Through my practice, I have learned to connect with life in an entirely new and exciting way! I am so incredibly thankful for this practice and all of the lessons it has to offer.

What is currently lighting you up?

So many things! My partner and my kids are always bringing so much light into my life. I am so excited to start this new yoga class at the Be Free Healing Center! I also just finished a Focalizing Practitioner training, where I learned how to guide individuals in cultivating a deeper sense of connection with their bodies and how to give their feelings a chance to have an equal seat at the table. I love learning about the energy of our bodies and the innate intelligence it holds! I plan on continuing my education on this concept for years to come!

What is something people might not know about you?

Our family adopted a pet snake this past fall! My oldest son has loved learning about snakes his entire life, which made me open up to the fascinating creatures that they are! If you had asked me five years ago whether I would be open to having a pet snake, my answer would have been "no way!" However, my son’s love for snakes and his study of them changed my mind, and we now have a beautiful zigzag black-and-white corn snake named Eve. It has been so fun watching her grow these past few months, and I am really enjoying her energy in our home!
